Visiting the World of Barbie Exhibit ♡

Hello bats! A few weeks ago I visited the new World of Barbie exhibit for a friend's birthday. The exhibit featured a variety of life-sized interactive rooms and displays. It was really just a series of giant Instagrammable backdrops, with some Barbie history sprinkled in - I didn't mind, though, since it was really well done! Even though I collect dolls, I was never interested in collecting Barbie stuff past childhood...but there were a ton of adult fans there as well as kids who were decked out in all pink or Barbie merch. It was cute seeing how many people dressed up in glam outfits to visit the exhibit!

I have to admit, though...Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse is pretty great. (´ ∀ ` *)

Hat: Offbrand
OP: Atelier Boz
Socks: Moi-même-Moitié
Accessories: Moi-même-Moitié
Bag: Moi-même-Moitié
Shoes: Bodyline

I was feeling a bit lazy and the weather was blazing hot and stormy, so I wore a really simple coord with my Carol OP and a hat, and put my hair into big twists. My hair has finally grown long enough for twintails and braids again! I liked having it cut super short, but it wasn't very versatile. I don't think I'll cut it that short again even though it was super liberating. The exhibit ended up being really crowded so I'm glad I didn't go too big and fancy with my coord.

It took us about an hour or so to visit each room in the exhibit. My favourite room was the history of Barbie room, which was full of displays of vintage Barbie toys. It even featured a life-sized replica of the original 1960s dollhouse next to a vintage one in mint condition! I see them pop up on Ebay sometimes, but they're almost always damaged.

The TV was playing a looped video of a Barbie advert from the 1960s or early 1970s.

There was also display case filled with different Barbie cars. This part was super nostalgic for me as I was very interested in cars and auto racing as a child, so I had a lot of Barbie cars! ♡  I vividly remember playing with the 1980s Corvettes as a kid - the pink chrome one and the aqua one in the photo. I hadn't thought about these toys in decades, but seeing them brought me right back. I think I had the 1990s pink Corvette too, now that I think about it.

There was also a photo op area where you could pose inside little dioramas meant to look like Barbie boxes.

My friend (the birthday girl ♡) loves mermaids, unicorns, and fairies so this box was perfect for her!

This box was a perfect match with my other friend's Crystal Dream Carnival print!

I just liked the colours in the tennis-themed box haha („• ᴗ •„)

Some other highlights included a life-sized Barbie camper van with seating areas (I had one of those too!), a spaceship, a walk-in closet and dressing room, a kitchen with cute vintage appliances, and a powder room. Everything was impressively detailed - I was impressed!

Afterwards, we had fluffy Japanese pancakes for lunch! I had strawberry pancakes with yuzu iced tea. I suppose that's more of a dessert than a lunch, but who's keeping score?

That's all for now ♡

Tea for ILD

Hello bats! I hope everyone had a lovely International Lolita Day the other weekend! I was working on the day proper, so the next day I went out for afternoon tea with my best friend and her husband. We decided to wear black and red coordinates since that was the colour theme of the restaurant. We made reservations ahead of time since Sunday lunch is pretty popular downtown, so we are expecting it to be slammed...but to our surprise, we were the only diners present. That was totally fine by me, since I hate getting interrupted by "what are you guys wearing?" while I'm trying to eat in peace.
Since it was quiet, we ended up chatting quite a bit with the staff. They told us that we were actually their last tea service customers ever, so we ended up getting tons of extra goodies for free! They really loved our clothing and so they were curious, but in a genuinely friendly way and not in that weird way that most people are - you know, like when it's obvious that they see you as a freakshow. Anyway, they offered to host tea service just for us if we called ahead before they open up for full dinner service!

The tea service featured a very classic menu of finger sandwiches, scones, and small desserts (and some very expensive champagne). I was very tempted by the champagne and cocktails but I'd just spent Friday night getting turnt at the bar with one of my friends so that seemed like a poor choice ( ´ ▽ ` )b I definitely want to try the cocktail menu the next time I go, though. I had a lovely pot of vanilla earl grey tea instead. They even gave us a cute little hourglass tea timer!

The egg salad sandwiches were honestly the best I'd ever had. They had some interesting scone flavours instead of the standard fare too - mine was chocolate and berry! Yum. For dessert we had cute little chocolates and cookies with different fillings. The food and service were phenomenal, and I left feeling very full and happy 🖤 I'm always a bit hungry after tea so I was pretty surprised at the amount of food we got.

I decided to wear a simple coord with my Rosy Night's Masquerade JSK. I've only worn it once or twice since I bought it because I wasn't sure about the cut, but I've come to really like it. I think the dropped waist is flattering and balances out my shorter torso and longer legs. It's a bit tubular so it's not a snug fit, but I mean...that's ideal for scarfing down trays of finger sandwiches, right?

Headdress: Moi-même-Moitié
JSK: Alice and the Pirates
Blouse: Infanta
Socks: Moi-même-Moitié
Accessories: Moi-même-Moitié, Néant Glass,Vivienne Westwood
Bag: Banned Apparel
Shoes: Na+H

Also, obligatory manicure photo. It's a multichrome magnetic gel polish so it shifts from green to yellow to blue in the light. I usually get nail art instead of a single colour but I was just too tired to sit still for that long. It doesn't match my coord at all - I would like to start wearing green, but there aren't too many gothic-friendly green main pieces out there...

Anyway, that's it for now (ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)ꕤ.゚

A warm weather coordinate & some new houseplant friends 🌱

Happy World Goth Day, bats! I spent a day downtown with my best friend. Even though we work in the same neighbourhood, our schedules don't always line up so it can be hard to meet up. We decided to wear Moitié and comfy shoes so that we could go on a long walk together. We relaxed in the park, and had some delicious Indian fusion food.We also did a little bit of window shopping. Did you know that Fluevog had an Anna Sui collab? Me neither! I adore the colours. Fluorescent green is one of my favourite colours and those sandals are extremely tempting...

I wore Moitié's Lace Cross JSK from 2009 since it was very warm outside. It has to be one of the most flattering dresses I own. I love the shape of the bodice - more lolita dresses should have Basque waistlines! I also have fresh tattoos on my thighs so I was a bit worried about coverage, but the dress hits perfectly above the knee when I'm in flat shoes.

Socks: Moi-même-Moitié

To be perfectly honest, my personal life is sort of in shambles right now, so this was a very welcome distraction. I'm trying to reignite some of my other hobbies to help occupy my time. One of my oldest hobbies is playing and making custom content for the Sims and SimCity games. I used to build a lot of houses in the Sims, so I've been remaking the iconic Neighbourhood 1 houses from Sims 1 houses in Sims 4. I just finished making the Goth family house and now I want to do the Newbie family house. I'd always kick the Newbie family out into one of the other lots so that I could move my own Sims in, haha. I really liked that tiny little tutorial house for some reason.

I also really missed editing my coordinate photos, so I decided to make a sort of liminal space-ish one inspired by that Windows XP "Bliss" wallpaper. I'm really fascinated by the idea of liminal spaces and I would love to do some surreal paintings based on the concept. I recently purchased a new set of gouache paints and some pencil crayons, so I might get started over the long weekend -  I should probably do something more productive than build houses for my Sims for the next four days.

I also purchased some cute new houseplants. The big rattlesnake plant is named Steve and the little polka dot plant is named Dottie. They're both growing new leaves already!! So proud of my little plants ( ˊᵕˋ )♡ They're both a little bit particular with regards to care, and I'm admittedly not a green thumb, but so far so good. I'm also hoping to get a ZZ Raven and a Monstera soon. One of my friends has one so I'm gonna ask him for a cutting. I know I have very basic bitch taste in plants haha ( ´ ▽ ` )b

A Museum Trip Coordinate

Today I went to the Bata Shoe Museum with my friends! We've had a super chilly spring season so far, so I was fine wearing velveteen. This is my first time wearing this piece even though I've had it for about two years! It's sort of apron-style so the back of the skirt is open.  I wore a plain black georgette tiered skirt underneath since I wanted to keep my outfit very simple today, but I can't wait to try pairing it with something more adventurous!

Headdress: Moi-même-Moitié
JSK: Victorian Maiden
Underskirt: Millefleurs
Blouse: Moi-même-Moitié
Jacket: Black Peace Now
Socks: Moi-même-Moitié
Accessories: Moi-même-Moitié, Vivienne Westwood
Shoes: Yosuke

I visited this museum alone last autumn, but it was fun to go back and revisit it with friends, especially since they actually appreciate fashion and design. They have a great collection of shoes as well as textiles and clothing from all over the world. I don't think it's a terribly exciting museum for people to visit if they don't already have at least a passing interest in those kinds of things...every kid I see in there looks bored as hell.

Prior to that visit in autumn, I hadn't been to the museum since grade 4. We went on a class trip to learn about historical fashion, and we got to make our own historically-inspired shoes. I remember making a tasselled rococo-styled shoe because I had been reading this book series about Marie Antoinette and I was totally obsessed with the fashion in the illustrations. I mean...that tracks, right?

Afterwards we went on a stroll through Yorkville for lunch and a little shopping. I don't go there very often so it was nice to visit again. I used to go window shopping there all the time when I was an undergraduate student, thinking about all the fancy designer things I wanted to buy when I had enough money...and now that I have enough money, I'm not interested in those things anymore. So I just ended up buying a cute acrylic drawer for my makeup instead.

Going out for a relaxing afternoon with friends really helped to lift my spirits. I've been feeling pretty down and blue lately so it felt very refreshing, even though I probably wasn't the best company (ᵕ̣̣̣ ͜ ᵕ̣̣̣ ˶ )♡ I can't wait to go out with friends more often now that the weather is better!

Manicure and Shopping

Today I wore a comfy Iron Gate coordinate to get my monthly manicure and do a bit of shopping. I got caught in a downpour on my way home, and dropped one of my new earbuds along a construction zone... (´•̥ ᵔ •̥`) It was so cold and windy that my jacket and dress froze solid! Thankfully they were fine after I washed them.

Beret: Moi-même-Moitié
Dress: Moi-même-Moitié
Jacket: Black Peace Now
Socks: Moi-même-Moitié
Accessories: Néant Glass, Vivienne Westwood
Shoes: Poison Shoes

I really like how this manicure turned out! I love the look of the bulky 3d metal pieces, but the crucifixes on my thumbs sort of get in the way. That's not a sentence you see every day...

When I went shopping I bought a simple frame for my Interpol print, but I'm still not sure where to hang it, so I set it on the radiator cover for the time being. I also bought some new storage boxes to store all my headdresses. I used to keep my accessories in cute printed boxes and bags, but they've all disintegrated from wear and tear. The new boxes are just clear plastic so they aren't cute at all, but at least they're practical.

Anyway, this was just a quick outfit post, so I'll end it there. My next post coming up is a long discussion about the current state of lolita fashion. I hope you look forward to reading it!

Tea and a (tiny) bit of shopping 💸

Hello bats! Not much to talk about today, just a coord post and some general life updates...

Welp, my household finally caught covid - makes sense given my occupation and the number of exposures I've had. I'm honestly surprised it didn't happen sooner. I'm very cautious about staying away from others, rarely go anywhere other than work, and always wear an N95, which goes to show how contagious it is! Thankfully I didn't catch it so I'm feeling fine, but I needed to work from home for a while - the isolation rules are a little different for healthcare workers.  ᴵˈᵐ ᵒᵏ(ᵕ̣̣̣̣̣ ͜ ᵕ̣̣̣̣̣ ˶ )♡

I don't like working from home very much - definitely going a little stir crazy here. Plus, there's so much of my job that can't be done remotely, so I'm mostly on receptionist duty which is not exactly my favourite thing in the world. Thankfully I'll be cleared to go back to work soon. It's kinda nice just being able to chill in my pajamas and listen to whatever I want in the background. Lately, I've been listening to the new Principe Valiente album, Barricades. I had no idea they were releasing another album until I saw a photo posted on the Then Comes Silence fan page showing the band members celebrating the release together (very cute!).

Speaking of music...I went a little overboard and bought tickets to see Perturbator (they're playing with HEALTH!), Franz Ferdinand, Lebanon Hanover (with Wingtips & Traitrs), and Carpenter Brut. This summer is gonna be awesome for concerts! I'm super excited since I haven't seen any live shows since 2019. Really hoping that Interpol will come to Canada when the new album drops...

I actually got an Interpol tattoo recently, too. It doesn't look so great here because it's still pretty flaky, but it's healing up quickly. It's not nearly as rough-looking as my new thigh tattoo, which still looks like a crispy onion peel after almost 3 weeks...obviously not gonna post pictures of that on the internet.

Anyway - I recently (pre-covid) went to afternoon tea to celebrate my best friend's birthday. I wore a black coord with purple tights and purple eye makeup. I would like to buy some purple hair accessories and blouses, but they're surprisingly hard to find. Now that purple is trendy it's a little easier, but I'm still surprised at how relatively uncommon it is.

Blouse: Moi-même-Moitié
Dress: Vallée lys
Socks: Estrellas
Accessories: Néant Glass, Moi-même-Moitié
Shoes: Lamoda

The wind was absolutely crazy so it was pretty hard to get a decent photo. It was blowing so hard that I could feel it pushing me back as I walked. Granted, the ridiculous shoes didn't help at all - the heels are 15 cm! It was my first time wearing them outside and while they look great in photos, they are really tough to walk in. But I'm willing to suffer for the aesthetic haha ( ´ ▽ ` )b

After we finished eating, we went shopping at Oomomo, which is pretty much the Canadian version of Daiso. I was very tempted to fill up my shopping basket, but I'm on a low-buy right now, so I decided to only purchase things I actually needed. All I bought was a cute frog shower cap and some instant milk tea packets.

Speaking of low-buy...up until today, I was still going strong with my lolita no-buy. I was beginning week 26, but my only A-line petticoat disintegrated when I pulled it out of the closet. I've ordered a Classy A-Line from MeLikesTea in white voile. Super excited to wear it. I bought a bell petti from them years ago and it's still in great condition. They're not cheap, but they hold up through heavy wear and repeated washing so I can't complain. I'm also considering reserving the new Boz Carol OP...I'm a little worried that my shoulders won't fit into it but it would be easy to resell if it didn't fit. There are honestly so many good releases out right now, my wallet can't handle it all  。:゚(。ﹷ ‸ ﹷ ✿) Gotta stay strong, but I don't know how much longer I can!

Uneventful days...

Hello bats! Just a low-key post about what I've been up to lately. Long story short: nothing, haha.

I had a very laid-back day today - I went to a cute café with a couple of my friends. I had a brownie and a chai latte, which is a bit sugary for me but I figured that I already ate a ton of junk food over the past week (pierogis, beer, cocktails, macarons...) so might as well add fuel to the fire. Actually, I've been exercising a lot to build up my stamina for longboarding, so maybe it will all balance out. At least, that's what I tell myself. Haha ( ´ ▽ ` )b

I wore a very simple and comfortable coord to today's meetup. It was chilly out so I finally had an opportunity to wear this cozy velveteen Victorian Maiden OP. I bought it about a year ago on Mercari for a surprisingly good price considering that it's in mint condition. The seller wrote in the description that she bought the dress in 2001 and it sat in her closet wrapped in the original packaging for 20 years. I can't imagine spending like $300 on a dress and just leaving it in the closet for that long...odd story, right?

Dress: Victorian Maiden Charlotte OP
Headdress: Moi-même-Moitié Neo Gothic Arch Mini Print Headdress
Socks: Moi-même-Moitié Ribbon Cross OTKs
Accessories: Vivienne Westwood, Néant Glass, Moi-même-Moitié
Shoes: Bodyline

So...other things I've been up to lately? Not much, to be perfectly honest. Not going to elaborate, but basically things are not good. I'm not really exaggerating when I say that I've only been to my workplace and the grocery store for the past couple of months (and throughout most of the pandemic) aside from occasionally going to bars/restaurants when things were actually open. I went out for "fun" probably a grand total of about 10 times. It's insanely monotonous and the past two years have been an absolute fucking slog. I'm kind of considering buying concert tickets - PUP is playing here in a few months - even though my immune system is an absolute dumpster fire, just so I have something to look forward to. I have a lot of vacation time banked so I wanted to fly to the UK this May to see Carpenter Brut, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, but it's logistically a little difficult. I haven't taken any vacation time since 2019 so I'm starting to get stir crazy. Oh my god get me out of hereeeee ヽ(*`゚Д´)ノ

Seriously, all I've been doing is drawing and watching comedy and game shows, with the occasional documentary or band interview peppered in. For some reason I'm just not keen on watching episodic drama series like I used to - I just want something funny and lighthearted. I think I've watched almost every episode of Taskmasker now.

Aside from that...the lolita no-buy has been going pretty smoothly! Just hit 20 weeks without buying any new pieces. I've been tempted a few times, but I've been staying strong. Of course, it also helps that I got hit with a few big bills recently (vet bills and tuition...oof) and that I have other expensive vices to fill the void instead...

Collecting vinyl is one of those vices. I got lucky with this find. I bought a near-mint copy of Interpol's first EP, Fukd ID #3. Only 1000 copies were ever pressed, so it's exactly super rare, but it also doesn't come up for sale terribly often. Truly rare Interpol stuff is pretty hard to find because they're so popular, so I don't really bother hunting for it. I hope they come back to Canada soon...would really love to get this signed (ღˇᴗˇ)。o

I also preordered Franz Ferdinand's Hits to the Head on vinyl! I really like the track listing because it's got almost all of my favourite bangers on. Sadly The Universe Expanded and You Could Have It So Much Better aren't on it, but I'll manage. I totally loved FF when I was younger (largely because I had/have a crush on Alex Kapranos) but kinda lost interest after they dropped the post-punk revival vibes. Later I gave their newer material another chance and fell in love again haha. Very happy to have that in my collection!

Another treat is that I also get my nails done all the time. I recently cut them short and got one of those squiggly manicures that everyone seems to have now. One hand is in white and the other is black. Also, peep my new Vitaly armour ring! I'd been eyeing it ever since it featured in an advert they ran a few months back.

Other expensive fixation: dolls. I've posted pictures of my doll collection before, but I actually haven't added much to it over the past year. I ended up getting the Monster High Beetlejuice collector set, and I also lucked out and got ahold of Pullip Seila. One of my good friends bought the same doll, so we were hoping to meet up and twin with our dolls! I've never gone to a doll meet because...I don't know why, honestly. I guess it's sort of weird to walk around carrying a doll with you, but people already think lolitas look weird anyway.

That's it for now!

Ladurée Brunch & Goodies!

I went with a friend to Laduree for brunch and shopping last weekend instead of studying, because I really, really need a break. I work full-time, am a full-time student, and I'm also covering for my lab manager...been feeling very overwhelmed and overtaxed (´;︵;`) I tend to retreat to comfortable, familiar things when I'm stressed, so I've been playing a lot of Neopets and eating my favourite comfort foods. I haven't gone to Ladurée for a very long time obviously, but I used to go quite regularly. I ordered my old favourites, the Ladurée Omelette and Eugénie mocktail.

Eugénie mocktail (´・ω・`)!

Anyway, I'm finally wearing my Lief St. Esther dress! It feels appropriate for Halloween, but really I just chose it because it's comfortable and doesn't irritate my new back tattoo. I borrowed the nurse cap, armband, and waist ties from my AatP Roses Cross Emblem set to add some gold into the coordinate. I chose my rocking horse shoes because they have gold soles, and also because it was rainy and I haven't finished waterproofing all my leather shoes yet.

Dress: Lief St. Esther Apron OP
Cap: Alice and the Pirates Roses Cross Emblem Nurse Cap
Socks: Violet Fane Asylum Tights
Accessories: Alice and the Pirates, Violet Fane, Moi-même-Moitié
Shoes: Vivienne Westwood x Melissa Rocking Horse Shoes

It just occurred to me that I haven't worn any of my Moitié main pieces in a while. I still care about the brand very much, but with the current state of the secondhand market and the direction the brand is currently taking...I dunno. I have most of my dream pieces already, and I'm just more interested in wearing and buying other brands right now. I have a few Moitié pieces I'll be offloading soon, too. I need to clean up my closet for my wardrobe post!

Happy October!! 🎃

Hello bats! I'm sharing a coordinate from a few weeks ago, since this is the last time I ended up wearing this dress. I haven't been able to wear lolita recently anyway since I just got a big tattoo on my back, so I'm stuck wearing loose cotton tops only until it heals (´;︵;`) Once it looks a bit less angry, I'll post some pictures.

Katrina OP is one of my favourite designs, but I think I've exhausted everything I want to do with it for now. Katrina is such a gorgeous dress and I'm really happy that I had the chance to own and wear it. It's comfortable and easy to coordinate so I ended up wearing it really frequently...but it's hard for me to work with because I like to layer and wear corsets or jackets. The shape of this dress doesn't mesh well with the layering pieces that I own, and it's too heavy to wear year-round. I've gotten lots of pretty coordinates out of this piece, so I think it's time to let it go for someone else to enjoy.

Dress: Angelic Pretty Katrina OP
Bonnet: Kuroneko Majo Atelier Vampire Rose Bonnet
Socks: Estrellas Oath Garden OTKs
Accessories: Néant Glass, Luna Borgia
Shoes: Na+H Strap Shoes

I always wear lolita a lot in October - early autumn provides the ideal lolita weather. It's not rainy or cold, and it's not hot either. Plus, the leaves and Halloween decor make for pretty backdrops! It feels weird not wearing lolita at all, but hopefully I can dress up before the month is over. In the meantime, I have lots of time to do some closet cleaning. In addition to selling pieces I'm not using, I've also been doing some closet maintenance. I have so many old shoes that need repainting and minor repairs, like these two. The straps are broken and the soles are peeling off, so they need some TLC. I bought both of these pairs of shoes back in 2014, and they're showing their age.

Actually...I'm pretty sure I wore the pair on the left for my first full coordinate ever! I did buy a few lolita pieces well before 2014, but I just incorporated them into regular casual outfits because I was way too chicken to wear a full coordinate in public. Does anyone else remember getting outfit inspiration from the Daily Alamode LiveJournal community? (´͈  ᵕ `͈ )Such good memories!

Even though I'm trying to clear space in my closet and throw away unsalvageable stuff, I ended up getting lucky on Lace Market! I adore the Alice and the Pirates vampire series and have owned lots of them over the years. I just sold my Vampire Requiem Long JSK, and I sold my Vampire Forest JSK a long time ago - the prints are gorgeous, but the cuts just don't suit me. I'd prefer to have them as skirts. But the pieces I always regretted selling was my Vampire Prelude skirt and JSK in black. I have no idea what possessed me to sell them, but I did. Anyway, the ivory JSK popped up a few days ago and I immediately bought it. A few of my friends own this dress, and I can't wait to twin with them!

Lastly, to get into the Halloween spirit, so I treated myself to another nail set at a different salon. They're much shorter and easier to manage now! I loved the dramatic long coffin shape I had before because it made me feel kind of like an Instagram baddie, but I work with my hands and they were just constantly getting in the way. The short almond shape is still cute but much more practical. The nail technician also did a very good job repairing the damage done at the salon I went to at the beginning of September - I had to go back two weeks after that first nail set for maintenance and they rushed the job. The nail art was a bit messy which is forgivable, but they also burned the hell out of my nailbeds with the curing lamp and gouged deep into my natural nails. Have to wait for the damage to grow out now...

That's it for now! I hope you're all having a wonderful start to the spooky season!! ( ´ ▽ ` )

BIPOC Vamp Day 2021 🦇🩸

Hi bats! Today I'm sharing my outfit for BIPOC Vamp Day 2021. The event is in the same vein (ha) as Black Fae Day, which was an online event encouraging black people to dress up as fae and mythical creatures and share their looks on social media. I like vampires (and vampire hunters, of course!) a lot more than I like faeries, so I was pretty excited about this event!

I adored the Blade, Underworld, and Ultraviolet movies growing up, as well as Buffy and Forever Knight. I read almost all of the Anne Rice vampire novels, too. Like all budding weebs, I loved Hellsing, Vampire Hunter D, and Trinity Blood. I played through Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines a million times. I had a ridiculously long vampire dynasty running in The Sims 2 for years. So yeah, I was definitely into vampires...yet somehow I never had any interest in Twilight even though I was the target demographic - angsty millennial teen girl. Didn't want any romance to get in the way of all the leather pants and brooding and ultraviolence, I guess.

To this day, I want to get permanent fangs installed so that I can look like Selene from Underworld.

One of my screennames comes from a silly Vampire: The Masquerade forum roleplay character I made up when I was around 12. I was starting to get interested in tabletop gaming at the time and I stumbled onto World of Darkness lore books on some random goth's Geocities homepage. I only did some forum RPs because of course I was way too young to play in-person. Being a tween, I just wanted to be a quirky-yet-insanely-powerful gothic vampire wizard, so of course I made my character an obscenely wealthy mad scientist Tremere. She was supposed to be a sort of silly, over the top, comedic character. In retrospect she was kind of an uninspired mashup of existing characters, but she evolved over the years into a much better character. I still have all of my old character sheets and illustrations! (´・ᴗ・ ` )

I decided to do a cute layered coordinate with lots of sheer pieces and different textures. I really like the look of the tulle skirt peeking out underneath the ruffled skirt, and I chose a mesh/tulle headdress to mimic the look of the the tulle skirt. I kept the layered ruffle theme going with the layered collar, the wristcuffs over the sleeves, and of course the frill along the corset.

Am I a vampire, or a vampire hunter trying to blend in? You be the judge...

Skirts: Sheglit Asymmetric Frill Skirt layered over Sheglit Foliage Skirt
Blouse: Moi-même-Moitié Cross Arch Flare Sleeve Cutsew

I'm looking forward to seeing what other vamps are wearing today!

Picnic Coordinate 🦋

One of my comm members hosted a catered picnic meetup in the park recently! The forecast looked pretty bad, but the weather ended up being perfectly cool and breezy. We were getting swarmed by wasps, though. Generally I'm not too fussed by bugs but I'm somewhat allergic to wasps, so I spent a goodly amount of time trying to swat them away from my food and out of my hair. Bugs aside, it was a pleasant meetup! It was really nice to see the comm again, especially since there were some new faces, but I honestly wasn't feeling very social. I think working in a patient-facing job is finally starting to wear my social batteries down - not that I was a social butterfly to begin with...

Anyway, speaking of butterflies, I did a summery butterfly-themed coord with my Royal Princess Alice Gothic Butterfly OP! I figured this might be my last chance to wear it out before it gets too cold.
